Neoprene Foam Tape for HVAC, Ducting & Industrial Sealing Applications
When HVAC and industrial applications require more than a basic foam sealing strip, Neoprene Foam Tape provides a versatile solution for sealing, gasketing, cushioning and vibration-damping applications.
FireFlex Single Side Self Adhesive Neoprene Foam Tape combines a flexible foam structure with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing, making installation faster while providing reliable sealing between mating surfaces.
Designed for professional HVAC, MEP and industrial applications, it is available in standard and customized dimensions according to project requirements.
Why Neoprene Foam Tape?
The performance of a foam tape depends not only on its adhesive but also on the properties of the foam itself.
Neoprene-based foam offers a useful balance of:
- Flexibility
- Compression and recovery
- Cushioning
- Weather resistance
- Ageing resistance
- Vibration and rattle reduction
- Sealing performance
This makes Neoprene Foam Tape suitable for demanding applications where long-term performance is more important than simply selecting the lowest-cost foam tape.
HVAC Applications
FireFlex Neoprene Foam Tape can be considered for applications such as:
- GI duct connections
- Duct flange sealing
- AHU panels
- FCU assemblies
- Access panels
- Grilles and diffusers
- Equipment enclosures
- Insulation joints
- Sheet-metal interfaces
- HVAC gasketing
- Panel sealing
- Cushioning between components
- Vibration and rattle reduction
Industrial Applications
Neoprene Foam Tape can also be used for suitable industrial applications including:
- Equipment enclosures
- Electrical cabinets
- Metal fabrication
- Machinery panels
- General gasketing
- Gap filling
- Cushioning
- Component separation
- Weather sealing
- Vibration damping
Final material and adhesive selection should always consider the actual operating environment.
Single Side Self Adhesive Construction
The pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side allows the foam tape to be positioned directly onto the required substrate.
This can help improve installation efficiency during duct fabrication, equipment assembly and site installation.
The release liner is removed during application, allowing the adhesive surface to be bonded to the prepared substrate.
For reliable bonding, surfaces should generally be clean, dry and free from dust, oil and other contaminants.
Why Foam Density and Compression Matter
Choosing Neoprene Foam Tape based only on its dimensions can be misleading.
The foam must compress sufficiently to accommodate surface irregularities while maintaining the required sealing and cushioning function.
An excessively soft foam may compress too much under load, while an unsuitable high-density product may not provide the required conformity.
For demanding applications, density, compression behaviour and recovery should be considered together with thickness and width.
Adhesive Performance Matters Too
A high-quality foam with the wrong adhesive can still result in poor performance.
Adhesive selection can influence:
- Initial tack
- Peel adhesion
- Long-term bonding
- Temperature performance
- Surface compatibility
- Ageing performance
This is particularly important for HVAC installations where tapes may remain in service for many years.
Custom-Manufactured Sizes
FireFlex supports contractors, HVAC manufacturers, duct fabricators and OEM customers requiring dimensions beyond standard market sizes.
Neoprene Foam Tape can be supplied in different:
- Thicknesses
- Widths
- Roll lengths
- Foam densities
- Adhesive configurations
Custom sizes are available according to project requirements and quantities.
This allows the tape to be matched more closely to the actual joint, equipment or fabrication requirement instead of forcing the application to suit a standard stock dimension.
